POTPORRI: 'AVENGERS' & 'PROMETHEUS' MAKE COLLIDER'S WEEKLY "TOP 5" - NEW IMAGES & MEET EVIL "PETER"

Here is a little round up of a bit of "this and that" for 'Avengers' and 'Promethus' fans. 

First off, Collider listed their 'Top 5' newsmakers of the week with Chris Hemsworth's 'The Avengers' and Charlize Theron's 'Prometheus' making the cut.  Also featured was Universal's 'The Lorax' which is getting huge buzz for this weekend's release.

'The Avengers' broke the iTunes record for the most viewed trailer on their site which was "viewed over 13.7 million times in the first 24 hours of its debut."

'The Avengers' is looking to be one of the biggest blockbusters of this summer.  Below are screen captured images from the recently released trailer done by Collider.  See all 40 of their hi-res images here.

Charlize Theron's 'Prometheus' also makes their list solely based upon actor Guy Pearce who will play the "villian corporate boss/CEO".  According to Collider, 'Prometheus' released a "viral video" of Pearce's character, 'Peter Weyland'.  It is extrodinary and Pearce is good in it. This video alone, sells the film.

Not to mention, with 'Prometheus' being released one week after SWATH, it will definitely be giving it a run for its money.

The video also gives another clue that this film could be or is an "Alien' prequel when Wheyland mentions the creation of "cybornetic individuals".  This is a huge connection to 'Alien' because that is what Ian Holm's "Ash" was that film.  Read more about the 'Alien' prequel controversy here.

Lastly, Universal's 'The Lorax' also makes their list. The Hollywood Reporter has indicated that 'The Lorax' is projected to make at least $60 million dollars for its opening weekend.   This would be the best opening for an animated film since 'Cars 2' opened last June to the tune of $66 million.

KRISTEN STEWART CONSIDERED ONE TEEN IDOL BELIEVING IN EQUALITY

You won't hear Kristen Stewart talk much about politics, but any fan of hers pretty much knows what she believes based upon her actions.

Starring in a made-for-television film called 'Speak' about "date rape" moved her to be involved with RAINN (Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network).  She also is involved with Shoe Revolt, which assists abuse of teens involved in sex trafficking.

With Kristen, words are not necessary when her actions speak just as loudly. She showed love for her fans with her actions under intense surroundings in Paris the other day.

Anyone could see she was uncomfortable in recent photos where the paparazzi were screaming and clamoring for photos as she tried to greet her fans. Words were not needed, but if she spoke, we know they would have been kind...at least to the fans.

Gay South Florida listed Kristen as well as  Aziz Ansari, Chris Colfer, Miley Cyrus, Hilary Duff, Dakota Fanning, Zac Efron and Josh Hutcherson as today's teen idols who have spoken up in support of standing up for equality for the LGBT community. 

This is in contrast to former teen idol and 'Growing Pains' star Kirk Cameron.  Cameron made an appearance on  'Pierce Morgan' recently showing a lack of tolerance and using pretty harsh words against the gay (LGBT) community.

KRISTEN WINS VIRGIN MEDIA'S "GIRL OF THE YEAR" & MORE

Virgin Media recently announced its award winners and after thousands of votes, Kristen Stewart is their "Girl of the Year".  Stewart's 'Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1" won a few awards as well as her co-star Robert Pattinson.  One was including a second place finish as the "Worst Actress of the Year" which is just a haters vote because she swept everything else. 

Even Virgin Media had to admit with a second place finish by 'Breaking Dawn' for Most Disappointing Movie of the Year, they had to admit, there are haters out here for 'Twilight'.

"Don't forget, Twilight has almost as many haters as it has fans, with Breaking Dawn coming in for a lot of criticism..."

'Breaking Dawn Part 2' came in second losing out to 'The Hunger Games' for the Most Wanted Movie of 2012. By November, we know what movie will rule.

But overall, Stewart and her 'Twilight' cohorts did really well in the poll. Virgin Media writes:

It's a Twilight double! Kristen Stewart endured a ragged year on film: not only did Bella have to endure a bloody vampire birth (even if it was a result of getting jiggy with Edward), but even non-Twilight roles, like her Welcome To The Rileys prostitute, took their toll. Being named Girl Of The Year is her reward, beating Harry Potter alumni Emma Watson to the top spot. Mila Kunis was the friend with benefits you voted into third position.

CHARLIZE THERON FEATURED IN JIMMY KIMMEL'S OSCAR FILM BLOOPER REEL & BTS

Although Charlize Theron had a brief appearance amongst other stars in Jimmy Kimmel's annual star-studded Oscar skit, she is featured in the blooper reel and in the behind-the-scenes.

This year it was a fake movie trailer for a film named "Movie: The Movie." Charlize is hilarious when she is given direction to act like the rapper 50 Cent.   It is nice to see some of the biggest names in Hollywood just have fun. So check it out below.

SWATH ORCHESTRATION BEGINS ON MONDAY!

OK Swathers, we had a brief Twitter conversation with our fav composer, Stuart Thomas.  He gave us an update regarding the score.

The orchestration begins this Monday!! Rupert is hands-on regarding the music and will be present during the scoring.  And...

...we asked Stuart if he could see if he could send a photo of the orchestra in action.  He is going to try.  Not getting our hopes up so when we get it, it'll be extra special. 

Are you excited that the scoring is about to begin? We are!

KRISTEN STEWART HANGING OUT WITH HER 'ON THE ROAD' BOYS

Well, with the other 21-year old college kids heading out to their Spring Break taking trips to Cancun and Europe, Kristen Stewart is falling right in line with the rest of them. 

Stewart told WWD at the Balenciaga fashion even today, "My horizon is very clear," Kristen revealed. "I have five days off," according to Hollywood Life.

She added, “I know a lot of people here now. I’m probably going to hang out with my boys from On the Road.”

"Kristen hit it off famously with her film co-stars, Tom Sturridge, Garrett Hedlund and Sam Riley, and has stayed close to them since filming more than a year and a half ago."

Relax and have fun and duck those paps the best you can!

UNIVERSAL INTRODUCES ITS NEW CENTENNIAL ANIMATED LOGO

Universal appears to have a big year ahead of them. Variety reported that Universal's 'The Lorax' film which opens this weekend, will premiere the new centennial  animated logo.

CHARLIZE THERON CAUSES NERVOUS LAUGHTER ON 'TOP CHEF'

On Watch What Happens: Live last night, host Andy Cohen quizzed the 'Top Chef' finalist about their season.  One question was about Charlize Theron's episode where he asked about how many "nervous laughters" were seen in the episode. 

When you see the edits of all of the nervous laughing, it's quite funny.  Guess the Evil Queen cast a spell over the chefs after all.

EXTRA, EXTRA: MEET CAST EXTRAS

As we continue to try to give recognition to the extras in the cast of SWATH, meet actress/dancer Guinevere Edwards who plays a "farmer/villager" and actor Denius Parson whose characters are "undetermined" at this time. It appears that he may have played a couple of characters. 

Based on the profile of Denius, he is just beginning his acting career.  SWATH is the only film listed.

Guinevere has an extensive resume as an extra in film and television programs such as White Heat, The Fades, Iron Lady, Harry Potter 7 and Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy. She states in her profile that she has been told that her hair is great for period pieces.  From the length and natural waves in the photo above, that definitely appears to be true. Early this morning, Kristen Stewart the face of Balenciaga's new perfume campaign, attended their Fall/Winter 2012 fashion show where her appearance was highly anticipated by the fans, media and the paparazzi.

Stewart made a splash in the audience during the runway show with her leather pants and dazzling sleeveless top all courtesy of Balenciaga.

Twitter is buzzing with the strong rumor that our Snow White may be appearing at the Balenciaga Fashion Show this Thursday thanks or no thanks to the paparazzi who are following her. 

So just in cast she is there, you'll be able to see for yourself and have your moments to "squeee" if you wish.

TOBY JONES' "TITANIC" STRESSES "THE MIDDLE CLASS STORY"

Many films and television shows have been made about the ship Titanic, however, this version is taking a look from a different angle.  IVT's 'Titanic' starring SWATH's Toby Jones will premiere next month, according to The Telegraph.

The Telegraph reports that IVT's television version by Oscar-winning screenwriter Julian Fellows, has taken the story from the point of view of the middle class.  Previous versions concentrated on a love story between two people (James Cameron's version) or the point of view of the crew (A Night to Remember).  This version is set to "correct" the "omission" of the middle class story.


[Fellows]: “We never see the middle class; and England is a middle-class nation. It’s what most of us are. It’s what most of our greatness depends on.

“So in our Titanic, we have a very strong middle-class story. We quite deliberately set out to create a portrait of the ship."


“Nobody has attempted – I use the word advisedly – to convey a sense of the whole of the ship."


“We have 18 characters, and it’s a plaited narrative. We sink the ship three times, so you see the thing from several perspectives.”

What can you share about Snow White and the Huntsman?

Filming it made me feel like a teenager, like I was 12. The movie itself is a very ambitious project, and to me playing Ravenna was a lot of fun.

What was it like filming with the young Kristen Stewart, who plays Snow White?

From the moment we met there was this amazing chemistry between us. We had a great time filming that movie. I really hope people enjoy it. Kristen is only 21… I remember when I was that age. Her performance is fantastic. In fact, she’s quite the fighter.

UK Chris Hemsworth fans, check out this new 'The Avengers' poster which features all of the superheroes.

Also,  Den of Geek is reporting that 'The Avengers' has been renamed 'Avengers Assemble' in the UK.  Could this be because there was a television series called 'The Avengers' in the UK to prevent confusion? Could be. 

'Avengers Assemble' opens in the UK Thursday April 26th ahead of the US opening.

Ray Winstone's 'Hugo' is being released today on DVD.  Hugo was a pretty big winner at the Oscars this past Sunday winning several awards.  The DVD can be purchased here at Amazon.

COULD MISLEADING THE FANS HURT THERON'S "PROMETHEUS"?

When the new trailer was released for Charlize Theron's 'Prometheus', we noted that it resembled Ripely Scott's trailer of the original 1979 movie 'Alien'. 

Fans of 'Prometheus' have been claiming for some time that it was a prequel to the original 'Alien' movie.  However, Scott keeps denying the connection.  Could his denials hurt the film when it is released and fans see similarities?

The Bleeding Cool is reporting that Scott is now admitting a connection to 'Prometheus', however tenuously, regarding the "company" in charge of the ship itself.  Bleeding Cool prefaced Scott's quote by stating that there could be a doubtful translation issue from an interview given in Hungary.  

In the quote, Scott is describing actor Guy Pearce's role and the Weyland connection:

"When the first Alien movie and Blade Runner were made, I thought that in the near future the world will be owned by large companies. This is why we have the Tyrell Corporation in Blade Runner, and Weyland-Yutani in Alien. They sent the Nostromo spaceship.

The Prometheus is owned by an entrepreneur called Peter Weyland, and is played by Guy Pearce. That’s the connection between the two films, and nothing more. Prometheus is a new film, a new world, and is full of new ideas. And of course new monsters as well."

So the name of the company is the only factor that relates the two films?  Bleeding Cool states that they confirmed from a "good source" 9 months ago that the aliens in the film are like the aliens in the original 'Alien' movie.

Why the desception?  Will this anger fans and hurt the box office if it is found that this film at least appears to be an extension of the 'Alien' films if not a prequel?  Only time will tell.

Nevertheless, why is Scott trying to remove 'Prometheus' away from the originally successful 'Alien' film? Would it set expectations too high for 'Prometheus'?

From the looks of things, Bleeding Cool believes that they have been lied to as well as the fans.  This is not a good thing.  If the film is good, the fact that fans were lied to may go away or at least allow forgiveness for the deception.

KRISTEN STEWART WILL BE AT THE OSCARS....SORT OF

Oh how funny is this?  Fans have been clamoring for Kristen Stewart to make any kind of appearance at the Oscars tonight and low and behold we think The Academy has done it.

The Academy tweeted out this photo showing what the preparation was like around 9:55 this morning PST.  However, you can't get by a Twilight or Kristen Stewart fan anything dealing with Twilight. 

If you look over to the left-hand side, you will see a advertisement for the Hollywood Museum with a picture of who?  Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart as their Twilight characters "Edward and Bella".

So, Kristen will be there...in spirit at least.
