MAJORLY ANTICIPATED

Canyon News lists 'Snow White and the Huntsman' as one of its "Major Anticipated Movies of 2012" with two 'Snow White movies being released.

Kristen Stewart happens to be starring in two of the movies listed.  The other is 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1" which Canyon writes:

"There has always been a back and forth debate over which franchise has a bigger fan base, “Twilight” or “Harry Potter.” That question won’t officially be answered until the final chapter “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II” arrives in theaters on November 16, 2012. It’s the wedding that will change everything, the birth of a vampire baby and the ultimate battle between vampires, werewolves and humans will culminate. The books are a worldwide success, but the movies are becoming just as big and drawing more fans."

Twilight fans will have both movies to look forward to in 2012.

SWATH "INTRIGUES" AT COMIC-CON

(Collider)

Collider writes their Top 5 list this week regarding what their top Comic-Con experiences.  SWATH makes their list at #3.

Collider writes:

"Granted, there are enough Snow White projects currently circulating Hollywood that over-saturation is less a possibility and more an inevitability. Nevertheless, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t at least a little intrigued by the grittiness and slightly darker tone that director Rupert Sanders’ Snow White and the Huntsman looks to embody..."

Collider wrote an excellent Comic-Con review about SWATH here.

KRISTEN IS IN LONDON

Producer Palak Patel tweeted within the hour that Kristen Stewart was is now in London.  Cast and Crew gave 'Snow White' a warm welcome.

FROM KIRK TO THOR:  TIMES DO CHANGE

(Collider)

(Google Images)

Collider gave fans a sneak peak into the new movie "The Avengers" posting several movie stills and in particular Chris Hemsworth as 'Thor'.

Hemsworth seen above in 2009's "Star Trek" as 'George Kirk' has grown, in a good way, both with roles and with muscles.  The latter is most likely, to the liking of the ladies.

Fans can see Hemsworth as ' The Huntsman' in SWATH in June 2012.  According to Box Office Mojo, "The Avengers" will be released May 4, 2012.
POTTER CROSS-OVER LISTED AS NEW CAST MEMBER

(IMDb)

UPDATED:

As we reported yesterday, Dave Lenego has been cast in SWATH as confirmed by Producer Palak Patel via Twitter.

IMDb is listing Dave Legeno as a new character in SWATH.  The character he will play is "Broch".  No character information is available.

Fans can see Legeno in the theaters as "Fenrir Greyback" in 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2".

No confirmation has been made by Universal nor Producer Palak Patel but this would be an exciting choice for fans.

KEEPING IT REAL: A DARKER TALE

"...if that still shot of Kristen Stewart up above is any indication, I will be lining up for tickets when Snow White and the Huntsman hits theatres. ~ED Kain, Forbes Magazine

Once you read through Kain's introspective piece about the origins of fairy tales and their treatment in literature as opposed to in the movies [Disney], you can understand his enthusiasm for a chance to see Universal's version of  the 'Snow White'  fairy tale.

The original Brothers Grimm Fairy tales are stories of fear and terror: 'Hansel and Gretel' who burn a witch in a stove; 'Little Red Riding Hood' who gets pursued by a wolf who wants to kill her; Sleeping Beauty who pricks her finger and goes into a coma; or Rumpelstiltskin who demands the exchange of an unborn child for gold. These are dark, dark tales with no "happily ever after".

Can you believe these are the stories that were read to us as children - and we loved every word.

The realism that SWATH brings to the table appears to be enticing audiences.  "Keeping it real".   Fairytale monsters should be scary and not fluffy creatures that appear harmless.

Kain writes:

"Fairytales have traditionally been the stuff of fear and terror. It wasn’t until Disney came around and transformed these frightening cautionary tales into happy endings that we started to view fairytales as essentially romances for young children. Different lessons for different times, I suppose.

There have always been happily-ever-after stories, of course, but more often than not fairytales have been used to almost brutally inject common sense and a bit of wisdom into the minds of young children. Indeed, the line between fairytale and ghost story has historically been rather more blurry than it is today. Whether the villain is a witch or a prankster from faerie set on stealing babies from unsuspecting mothers, fairytales taught people to have a healthy fear of things they didn’t understand."

Universal is on the right track if this is what a fairy tale should be; dark, believably real [at least in our minds] and definitely scary.  This seems to be what fans are looking forward to with SWATH and apparently this writer as well.

PATEL'S COMIC-CON:  THE  AUDACIOUSNESS OF SWATH

(Producer Palak Patel on far right)

At the plate, bases full, bottom of the 9th, score tied and the pitcher has the nastiest slider you've ever seen...a pitch you've never hit before.

Three Snow White movies, one in production, the other two are not, the one in production releases its first official photo of its 'Snow White' to plenty of buzz and you haven't shot one second of film...what do you do?

You hit a grand slam home run.  You knock it out of the park is what you do.

The sunshine smile seen on SWATH Producer Palak Patel's face tells it all.  Patel admitted via Twitter that this would be his first panel appearance at Comic-Con and he did it front of an audience of over 6,000.

Patel boldly takes the pitch and hits a home run with his fellow Producer Joe Roth, first-time feature Director Rupert Sanders along with actors Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth and Sam Claflin.

NO K-11 FOR STEWART

Variety's Josh Dickey is reporting that Kristen Stewart will not appear in the film K-11, however the Stewart acting credit will now go to her older brother Cameron Stewart.  Kristen is set to begin production for 'Snow White and the Huntsman' next week.

K-11 is a movie being written and directed by her mother, Jules Mann-Stewart.  K-11 is set for production this summer as well.

WHO'S THE FAIREST SNOW WHITE?

(Universal)

(Entertainment Weekly)

Celebuzz took the plunge and asked the question that so many fans have been wondering about now that both Universal and Relativity have revealed their versions of 'Snow White'.

Kristen Stewart or Lilly Collins.  It just may be a matter of taste.

Universal revealed their character photo for the first time at this years Comic-Con to rave reviews and after the reveal of Relativity's photo in Entertainment Weekly which hasn't seem to have received the same reception.

Do you take the position of Melissa Silverstein where she called Collins' 'Snow White' a stereotypical "doe eyed girl looking like she has been lobotomized" who is a bad representation for girls today?

Or do you like the traditional 'Snow White' and believe Stewart's is too rough and over-the-top?

Or they both can exist, it's just a matter of what you like?

Tell us what you think below. It is an interesting debate to say the least.

ANOTHER SWATH ACTOR INVADES COMIC-CON: THERON TALKS 'PROMETHEUS'

(Source)

The Queen has already arrived at Comic-Con.  Charlize Theron appeared on a 20th Century Fox panel to discuss her role in 'Promethus' which is being directed by famed director, Ridley Scott.

Socialite Life reports how Theron likes to take challenging roles:

"Charlize Theron is all about taking roles that are challenging and most certainly different from one another. According to her panel discussion at Comic-Con for her new flick Prometheus, this doesn’t look to be changing."

You can read more about her appearance here

She is one of two of the known SWATH actors who are currently in town for the panel tomorrow.  Kristen Stewart is already in town from her appearance on the 'Twilight' panel yesterday.

Producer Palak Patel tweeted tonight that Sam Claflin is en route from London and Chris Hemsworth will be there tomorrow from the set of  'The Avengers'.

Excitement is building towards tomorrow's SWATH panel.  EB will report all the details on the "Stewart's Comic-Con 2011" master post thread here.   Bookmark it for tomorrow.

PERPETUATING A STEREOTYPE: ONE WOMEN'S PERSPECTIVE

"Snow White Hits Comic Con" Melissa Silverstein writes and she is none to happy with the image presented by one of them.

Silverstein who writes about 'Women in Hollywood' appears to have a problem with Lilly Collins' version of 'Snow White', in particular, how she describes her character.

In Silverstein's Indie Wire article she writes:

Firstly, I know that in some ways I should be glad that there will be two films starring young women (Kristen Stewart will play the other Snow White in Snow White and the Huntsman), but I can’t help but be pissed that this is what gets rolled out at comic con—a picture of a doe eyed girl looking like she has been lobotomized.

And the description that Collins gives makes me cringe: “a joyful person who lights up a room and maintains grace at all times…She’s very much that fairy tale princess we’ve all read about in books. She’s been modernized in a way that she becomes a fighter in the end.”

She better fight a lion or demon with her bare hands to get over that incredibly passive description of her character. We so don’t need another princess type movie that will give girls false role models.

Ouch.

Stewart's version of 'Snow White' and with Collins' version, girls will have a choice indeed.

SWATH Producer Palak Patel provides a tremendous description of what Stewart's 'Snow White' will  entail.  It is featured in a Script Magazine podcast EB posted here  - "Patel & Daugherty Discuss the Origins of SWATH".

Stewart's 'Snow White' may be right up Silverstein's alley.  In EB's profile article, "Kristen's Choices", SWATH Producer Joe Roth is quoted providing his perspective as to why Stewart was chosen: " [Stewart] is someone who has some piss and vinegar in her".  Doesn't quite sound like Collins does it?

The 'Snow White' in Snow White and the Huntsman will learn the "art of war" as the Huntsman teaches her how to fight.

Is Silverstein saying that it is time to modernize 'Snow White'?  Update her into reality?  Director Bill Condon of 'The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn' provided a delightful description of how he received word during the first day of filming that Twilight fans were let's say...LIVID with the fact that Edward was not wearing a wedding ring.  The thought process was that in "Edward's era", men did not wear rings so he did not receive one at the wedding.

The fans won the argument.  They immediately fixed the problem and Edward now wears a ring.  You can watch Condon describe the amusing ring process in the video below beginning at 2:16.  If you want to see the beginning of the interview, you can see part 1 here.

If 'Twilight' was a period piece, it would be understandable, however, it is not and the fans were not having any of it. He will wear a ring.

Edward was modernized which is what Silverstein appears to be stating.  Women have come a long way on screen and maybe it's time to update 'Snow White'.

Now no one can judge what Collins' version of 'Snow White' will be like until it is seen. Every little girl loves a fairly tale or maybe not in Silverstein's case.

What ever the case may be, Silverstein clearly has no patience for the mundane or the stereotypical when it comes to women in Hollywood.

You can read the rest of her article here.

STEWART'S COMIC-CON 2011

Mega-post

SATURDAY, JULY 23rd - Happy SWATH at Comic-Con Day!!

Saturday's theme at the Snow White and the Huntsman's Comic-Con panel could easily be "BRING IT ON!" and we're not talking about the movie about competing cheerleaders.

In more ways than one, Universal set the standard as to what this Snow White battle will be about.  If it wasn't Charlize Theron as 'The Queen' calling out Kristen Stewart's 'Snow White' by saying "Bitch let's go!", we believe she took the words right of Universal's mouth to Relativity after what happened Saturday.  We'll discuss the media's take on the battle later.

In the meantime, the banter between Kristen Stewart and Oscar winning actress Charlize Theron was witty and shows the potential chemistry to come when the panel finally met at Comic-Con today.

Cinema Blend reported that Theron said she just met Stewart but "but I know she's going to give me a run for her money and I'm ready for it bitch let's go!"

Sorry Charlize, last time I check, Snow White lives happily ever after.  But bring it Stewart will.

Movieline reports that Stewart did not initially jump at the chance to play Snow White but said, "she [Snow White] is one of the most heavy-handedly sincere [characters] seriously doesn't let her heart cloud her mind. Also I get to have a sword and stuff".

You can read the full transcriptions of the panel's appearance here and here.

Again, we've learned that there will be 8 dwarfs because Disney has the licensing to have 7.  But Producer Joe Roth indicated that one of the dwarfs will die as a way to get around that problem.

From all accounts, the cast was friendly and excited about the project.  New director, Rupert Sanders seemed to impress the media masses as well as the fans with his presentation.  Taking into considering that this will be his first big feature film, that took a lot of doing especially when the pens want something negative to write.

Josh Dicky of Variety has posted his story here at Showblitz.com.  His account provides the fans a clear picture of what SWATH is about.  He also gives a positive "thumbs up" to the project.

This is in stark contrast to the scathing report Melissa Silverstein wrote on Indie Wire regarding the stereotypes perpetuated by Relativity's 'Snow White.

The Hollywood Reporter's positive report is a sure sign that Universal's version has a leg up in the "Snow White Wars" as well.

THR states it this way:

"Now it’s on, people!

The game of one-upmanship between Universal and Relativity over their competing Snow White movies ramped up at Comic-Con—and Universal now has the edge.

A day after Relativity released a first-look photo of Lilly Collins as Snow White in its untitled movie, Universal arrived in San Diego with a swath of character photos from Snow White and the Huntsman, including Kirsten Stewart holding a sword and shield as Snow White, Charlize Theron looking menacing as the dagger-wielding Evil Queen, Chris Hemsworth as the hunky Huntsman and Sam Claflin as a prince.

And while its movie doesn’t start production until August, Universal still made a big impression with a well-received presentation of test footage and director Rupert Sanders’ commercials to get audience excited.

All this compared to Relativity’s Comic-Con no-show for its Snow White, which has been in production in Montreal since June."

You can read the rest of THR's report of the panel here. All reports pretty much agree that without filming a single frame yet, the presentation was impressive and the pictures seen on the official SWATH movie site here and on the official Facebook page here shows the impressiveness and where this film is potentially going.

If there is any sign of where this is headed, Universal and the producers should be pretty comfortable with the mass of positive tweets that sent 'Snow White' trending world-wide (see below).

So Comic-Con ends with a bang for SWATH and Kristen Stewart but her year is not even close to being over.

With 2 films coming out this year (On the Road, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Pt. 1) and with the filming of SWATH, Stewart's 2011 is definitely a bench mark for this long and young career.

Today gave every SWATH fan what they expected and then some.  The cast was great and the media was impressed.  The only thing left is to get it in the can and into theaters.

You can watch the full panel presentation here as provided by a fan (@315Melon).

Remember that Comic-Con will post Hall H panels here.  So watch out for their posts as well.

We here at The Enchanting Beauty would like to thank those of you who kept us entertained on Twitter with your questions and providing insights as to all the Comic-Con hoopla either knowingly or unknowingly.

PATEL'S EXCITED ABOUT COMIC-CON!!

With fans lining up, SWATH Producer Palak Patel expresses his excitment regarding Comic-Con via Twitter.

You can feel the energy through the tweet.  Saturday is going to be a huge day for SWATH fans!  Are you excited yet?!!

Comic-Con is known for having surprises.  Stars that were not on the schedule usually show up on a surprise panel.  So what do you think will happen?  Could more cast members  show up?  How about a couple of dwarfs?

What do you think?  Will additional cast members show?  Let's hope so.  Only a couple of days away.  Tic Toc...is Saturday here yet?

A fan also thanks Patel for being a producer who responds to fans questions. Patel does indicate that there are other producers that respond to fans as well.  This would include some guy named Bruckheimer.  Never heard of him. *winks*
